چکیده

• Reflex mechanisms affecting the coronary circulation have been postulated and described as participating in the profound fall in blood pressure frequently attending cardiogenic shock following acute coxxmary occlusion. The reflex mechanisms suggested as being responsible for potentiating the cause of sudden death in coronary artery disease are: (1) an intercoronary reflex, which is believed to produce reflex coronary vasoconstriction in the nonoceluded bed during acute coronary occlusion of one branch, thereby contributing to the shock condition, and (2) the BezoldJarisch reflex, which produces a decrease in cardiac output and vasodilation, thus initiating a greater fall in blood pressure than would otherwise be expected from occlusion of one coronary artery alone. Existence of a reflex between the coronary arteries has been under continuous study since Manning and his colleagues reported that the mortality rate following coronary occlusion can be reduced by sympathectomy, vagotomy, atropine, coronary vasodilators, and anesthesia. Such results alone do not prove that acute coronary occlusion is accompanied by a reflex vasospasm of adjacent

The Hemodynamic Effects of Drugs on Myocardial Oxygen Use

The circulatory responses to high equinalgesic doses of morphine are compared with those of pethidin. The decrease in mean arterial blood pressure in case of morphine was 28p.c., with a paralleled and identical decrease in total peripheral resistance and no negative inotropic effects.  Pethidine decreased blood pressure 54p.c., as a result of peripheral vasodilation of 46p.c. and a sharp drop...

Intermittent coronary sinus occlusion after coronary arterial ligation results in venous retroperfusion.

Coronary sinus occlusion retards necrosis of ischemic myocardium. To test the hypothesis that coronary sinus occlusion induces retrograde venoarterial flow, the coronary arteriovenous pressure gradient and the coronary arterial oxygen saturation were measured distal to a left anterior descending coronary artery ligature in dogs. In parallel, we constructed a mathematical model of known coronary...

Effects of renal hypertension on coronary blood flow, cardiac oxygen consumption and related circulatory dynamics of the dog.

A comparative study is presented on the circulatory dynamics of the renal hypertensive state, the stability (repeatability) of the findings in a given subject, the effect of anemia as a complicating factor and the amount of cardiac hypertrophy present in each animal at the end of the series of observations. The results indicate that in nonanemic renal hypertensive dogs with cardiac hypertrophy ...

Coronary inflow and outflow responses to coronary artery occlusion.

Sudden complete occlusion of a major coronary artery (left circumflex or right coronary artery) was produced in anesthetized dogs. The effect on arterial inflow, venous outflow and O« saturation of coronary venous blood from the nonischemic left ventricle was studied. The usual response to occlusion of the left circumflex artery was an increase in flow in the left anterior descending artery and...
